When We Train
September to June:
- Tuesday evenings
- 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- one weekend per month.
Full-time summer employment is available from May to August.

Who We Are
The Lake Superior Scottish Regiment (LSSR) is a Primary Reserve infantry unit located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. As part of 38 Canadian Brigade Group, our task is to augment Canada’s military with trained infantry soldiers.
The LSSR is always hiring intelligent, fit, and confident men and women with an interest in dynamic and challenging training as infantry soldiers. Primarily, new members are High School or University students with time to work one evening a week and one weekend a month during the school year (Sep – May). Within their first few years of service, new members must also be available to attend full-time courses during the summer (Jul – Aug) where technical skills are acquired for employment on operations and training during the part-time training year.

A Hometown Hero’s welcome in Ottawa
Ottawa, Ontario —Inuk Elder, Qapik Attagutsiak, was recognized as a Parks Canada Hometown Hero at the Canadian Museum of History. The Elder was commemorated for collecting bones in the Canadian Arctic during the Second World War. The bones were then sent to southern Canada to make ammunition, fertilizer and aircraft glue to support Canada’s war efforts.

History
Since World War II, our soldiers have served throughout the world on numerous peacekeeping operations. Most recently, the LSSR has had several soldiers serve in Afghanistan. The regiment has lost one soldier, Corporal Anthony “T-Bone
” Boneca on July 9, 2006, fighting Taliban insurgents during Operation Zahar (“sword”) in Zhari District, Kandahar Province.
This Reserve Force regiment originated in Port Arthur, Ontario on July 3, 1905, when a regiment of infantry was authorized to be formed.
