When We Train
September to May:
- Wednesday evenings
- 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- one weekend per month.
Full-time summer employment is available from May to August.

Who We Are
20th Independent Field Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery, is a Canadian Army Reserve (ARes) unit located in Lethbridge, Alberta. The Battery is one of the two field artillery units in 41 Canadian Brigade Group.
As members of the Reserve Force, soldiers of 20th Independent Field Battery serve part time. Reservists typically serve one or more evenings a week and/or during weekends at locations close to home. Some Reservists may volunteer to be deployed on domestic and international operations, if there are positions available.
The ARes is an integrated part of the Canadian Armed Forces that contributes to the success of military operations at home and abroad.

A Hometown Hero’s welcome in Ottawa
Ottawa, Ontario —Inuk Elder, Qapik Attagutsiak, was recognized as a Parks Canada Hometown Hero at the Canadian Museum of History. The Elder was commemorated for collecting bones in the Canadian Arctic during the Second World War. The bones were then sent to southern Canada to make ammunition, fertilizer and aircraft glue to support Canada’s war efforts.

Our History
The battery was reorganized as a regiment and designated 18th Air Defence Regiment, RCA on November 10, 1992. In 2011 was redesignated 20th Independent Field Battery, RCA.
The 20th Independent Field Battery, RCA originated in Lethbridge, Alberta on February 1, 1908 when the 25th Battery, was authorized to be formed.
