Montreal, QC — On March 8, 2018, across Quebec, members of the Defence Team and thousands of Internet users took part in Exercise YOGA 2018 – a time for relaxation and well-being. The purpose was to mark International Women’s Day while promoting the importance of physical fitness and mental health.

The day’s activities began with speeches by three extraordinary women who have had inspiring journeys within the Canadian Armed Forces: Brigadier-General Josée Robidoux (Canadian Forces Base/Area Support Unit Montreal), Major Karine Thibault (Canadian Forces Base/Area Support Unit St-Jean) and Lieutenant-Colonel Chantal Bérubé (2nd Canadian Division Support Base Valcartier).

This was followed by a yoga session given by instructor Line Paquin in Montreal, which was broadcast to Saint-Jean and Valcartier and Canadian Forces Base Bagotville, and simultaneously on the 2nd Canadian Division and Canadian Army Facebook pages.

This event was an opportunity for members of the Defence Team to speak as one, reflect on past achievements and, above all, prepare for the future and the opportunities that await future generations of women. What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than by exercising together to feel good physically and emotionally.

Everyone was invited to take part – women, men, civilian and military personnel, regardless of their age or physical condition – in an effort to be as inclusive as possible and combine health and well-being so that everyone can be #StrongProudReady!
