On Saturday, September 28, 2019, Canadian Army armouries across the country will open their doors to the public to showcase the important work that Reservists do through interactive displays, demonstrations, and conversations with soldiers. Moreover, Army personnel will be on site to answer any questions about part-time employment opportunities and joining the Army Reserve.
One night a week, one weekend a month: build a second career
Canadian citizens between the ages of 17 and 57 are eligible to join. The Army Reserve also accepts 16-year-olds with parent or guardian consent and who attend high school full time. All applicants must have completed Grade 10 or Secondaire 4. Unless they choose to do so, Reservists are not required to accept postings outside their communities in Canada or on overseas missions, unlike Regular Force members.
Reservists have many opportunities throughout their career for advancement based on training and merit. Reservists learn transferable skills and knowledge that benefit the military and their civilian workplaces.
