Commander 3rd Canadian Division and Joint Task Force (West)

Brigadier-General Lacroix was posted to Lahr, Germany upon receiving his commission with the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps. His regimental employment covers a variety of staff and command appointments at troop, squadron and regimental level with the Royal Canadian Dragoons, 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise’s) and 12e Régiment blindé du Canada. It culminated with the command of his Regiment from 2009 to 2011.

His operational experience is varied. He was posted to the United Nations Mission in El Salvador in 1992, where he served as military observer, operations officer, and executive assistant to the Commander. He was deployed with the United Nations again in 1994, to Haiti this time. During this deployment, he served as military observer and liaison officer between the Dominican Republic and the UN forces stationed in neighbouring Haiti. In 1996, he was deployed in the Former republic of Yugoslavia with the Headquarters of the 5e Canadian Multinational Brigade. In 2004, he was appointed as National Command Element Chief of Staff in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2010, he served as a Senior Mentor to the Commander of an Afghan National Police Regional Headquarters, responsible for the operations of 22,000 policemen stationed in the southern part of the country.

His extra-regimental employments include postings to the Armour School, Quartier général du 5e Groupe-brigade mécanisé du Canada, Canadian Land Force Command and Staff College, Army Headquarters and National Defence Headquarters. He was appointed Executive Assistant to the Commander of the Canadian Army in 2011 and Special Advisor to the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff in 2013. He assumed command of 3rd Canadian Division Support Group in June 2015. After two outstanding years with the Army of the West, Brigadier-General Lacroix was appointed as Director General of the Inter-American Defense Board in June 2017.

BGen Lacroix completed the Land Force Staff Course, the Land Force Command and Staff Course, Joint Command and Staff Program 33 and National Security Program 5. He holds an accelerated Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in Translation from McGill University, a Bachelor of Military Arts and Science and a Master of Defence Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) Kingston.

Brigadier-General Lacroix assumed command of 3rd Canadian Division and Joint Task Force (West) in May, 2019.
